Viral video footage captures the moment a sports journalist was hit by a huge piece of the set, which fell down on him while filming ESPN FC on Tuesday night (9 March).

Colombian journalist Carlos Orduz had been in the studio filming ESPN FC when part of the set suddenly collapsed onto him from behind - sending him hurtling into the desk in front of him.

Footage of the incident has been shared on Twitter, with many people commenting on how painful the 'serious blow' looked.

ESPN FC host Francisco Velez later took to social media to provide an update on Orduz, saying his colleague was thankfully doing OK after what happened.

In a video, he said: "We want to send you a piece of reassurance after the incident that occurred to us at the beginning of our program.

"Our colleague Carlos Orduz after the revision is fortunately in perfect condition. We appreciate the messages, the solidarity, the support of colleagues and the public in general. We hope to be with you again soon."

In the caption, he added: "A piece of tranquility for everyone. Our colleague Carlos Orduz is well."

Orduz has since released a video of his own to tell fans he's OK, speaking to the camera animatedly - ending a clip with a thumbs up to the camera:

Sports journalist Maximiliano Bretos shared Orduz's video, writing: "You can pull up video... it's graphic, and it's truly amazing he is standing upright and telling us he's fine."

Commenting on Orduz's update, one person wrote: "Seeing this I think it's really miraculous that nothing happened to him."

Another agreed: "Good thing nothing serious happened."

A third said: "The important thing is that nothing serious happened."

In another tweet, Orduz added: "To those who wrote to me and greeted me about the accident last night, I must tell you that I am fine, thank God after the medical check-up, the respective examinations, any issue was ruled out, only a bruise and a blow to the nose (no fracture). Greetings and thanks."
