After a driver reportedly hit a man's car and drove off, strangers very kindly left an informative note for him of the perpetrator's details.
A man on Twitter shared the story of how kind-hearted strangers helped him potentially save thousands of pounds of damage because of a handwritten note.
He tweeted: "Dear VW Polo driver who caused £3000ish damage to my car and drove off.

"You're about to get a hell of a shock."
The note read: "Hi, We saw a grey Polo reverse into your back right bumper causing damage.
"Their number plate is....

"My telephone number is... if you wish to discuss
"P.S. We have a photo of car."
In a follow-up tweet, the owner added: "Oh, looks more like £5k-£6k damage according to my mechanic neighbour. And could be more. FML."
His tweet was uploaded two days ago (4 September), and has racked up 15,000 likes and 780 retweets.

Twitter users were quick to praise the strangers for their nice gesture.
One commented: "What good-hearted people."
A second wrote: "The same thing happened when my car was hit, a lady waited by it until I came back (school pick up time) and she gave me the details and number plate.

While a fourth questioned why the repair would cost so much and wrote: "Is the bumper made of gold."
The man whose car was hit sarcastically responded: "Yes, the bumper and rear panel of the entire vehicle along with the parking sensors and reversing camera and boot assembly are all made of gold, as are the replacement parts and the hourly labour costs.
