An Australian student who murdered her 'friend' by poisoning her coffee with cyanide has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Jessica Wongso was found guilty of lacing her supposed mate Mirna Salihin's drink. Who needs enemies, eh?

She has already indicated she will appeal her conviction and, speaking outside court, said: "I don't accept this decision because, for me, it's not fair and very one-sided."

Despite the murder taking place in Indonesia, Australian police helped with the case on the condition that Wongso be exempt from the death penalty if found guilty, the Daily Mail reports.

At the trial, two Aussie forensic experts told the court it was impossible to say that Salihin had died from cyanide poisoning because the family refused an autopsy - for religious reasons.

However, the judges rejected this claim after claims that almost 300mg of the poison had found its way into the body. A lethal dose is around 120mg. Bloody hell.

Police claim that Wongso ordered her friend an iced coffee, surrounded it with bags so it was hidden, and poured the cyanide in. Salihin is said to have started foaming at the mouth after just one sip.

Wongso was criticised as footage from local media showed her grinning outside court.
