Several people are believed to have been injured after a reported suicide bomber blew themselves up near the French embassy in Tunisia.

Reports suggest that the bomber was targeting a police vehicle in the Tunisian capital Tunis.

According to the interior ministry, two police officers and three civilians have been injured.

After the blast, a second was reportedly witnessed close to the anti-terror HQ in El-Gorjani in Tunis.

The first attack is claimed to have taken place in Charles de Gaulle street in downtown Runis, witnesses told Reuters.

The Mirror reported that security forces have imposed a security cordon and suspended traffic in Habib Bourguiba Street.

Body parts were strewn in the road around the police car, an AFP news agency correspondent said.

Al Jazeera reported how the loud explosion, for which there was no immediate claim of responsibility, was heard throughout the surrounding neighbourhood.
