A teacher who is accused of having sex with a pupil told cops she was scared to go to prison as she thought other inmates would 'tear me apart'.

Twenty-eight-year old Brittany Zamora was arrested after her alleged victim, who was 13 at the time, went to the police and told them they had slept together.

He told officers she had carried out a sex act in a classroom and also shared sexually explicit photos with him. It was claimed she engaged in sexual activity with the boy four times.

Brittany Zamora has appeared in court over claims she slept with a pupil.

She was arrested while on her way to Las Brisas Academy Elementary School in Arizona.

In new footage, shared by KPNX, Zamora can be heard telling police she was worried for her safety, in the event that she is sent to jail. She said: "I'm little. They're gonna tear me apart."

When asked why she did it, she told cops: "I just got really close after I think everything went down and we're like, 'How could that happen?' ... We just got close."

Zamora's husband has told the media he will stand by his wife, telling police: "Brittany is an adult. She's the best, the best person I've ever known."

In court, messages allegedly sent between the pair were revealed, with a message reported to be from Zamora reading: "OMG, I love you." Another read: "Omg lol you're so cute baby," while a third said: "I wish you could've stayed after with me."

In a reply purportedly from the teen, he wrote: "Me too. I wish I could just hang out with you whenever we wanted."

After one of their alleged meetings, it's claimed the boy sent a message to Zamora to say he wanted to have sex again - and she is alleged to have replied: "I know baby! I want you every day with no time limit... If I could quit my job and (have sex with) you all day long, I would."

The father of the boy has said his son's childhood has 'gone' and the family has launched a $2.5 million lawsuit against the school district, in which they claim not enough was done to report the inappropriate relationship between the pupil and teacher.

Speaking last year, a spokeswoman for the Goodyear Police Department told Arizona Central: "The safety message here is parents need to be aware of their kids' activities on phones and social media and be aware of who they are in contact with."
