This Easter Weekend Might Be The Hottest On Record

This Easter Weekend Might Be The Hottest On Record

Time for some traditional Easter sunbathing.

The weather has been pretty bad the last few months what with Storm Doris and all and just the misery of January and February. Without Christmas to look forward to, it's no fun enduring rubbish weather. And then suddenly, on Mother's Day, spring arrived and then sun deigned to pop its head out from behind a cloud.

Finally! Mum was pleased.

And the odds are that Easter is going to be even hotter. William Hill is even putting bets on it - it thinks that the bank holiday is going to be the hottest on record.

I mean the weather is good, but is it that good? To be the hottest on record it would have to beat 2011's whopping 27.8C. The odds are 3-1. I'm quietly hopeful.

Easter is falling pretty late this year - Good Friday is on April 14th and Easter Monday is on the 17th. And the later in the year, the better the weather. Well, presumably, but this is the UK. Sometimes we have four seasons in one day - and it keeps us on our toes.

William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: "Easter is very late this year and if Mother's Day is anything to go by, we could just see further weather records tumble."

I hope so. But to be honest, as long as there's chocolate and I still get the day off, I'm not too bothered if it's warm outside. It would just be the icing on the cake.

And this is the Easter egg I have my eye on as a proud Scot. A Buckfast egg! For a very reasonable £8.99, it comes with a free lighter. I'm not sure what the deal is with the chocolate - will it taste of the fortified wine? Or do I just wash it down with the mini bottle of buckie that's inside?

Either way - pretty happy. The pinnacle of Western civilisation, indeed.

There are lots of things to do around Easter - you've got to make the most of the precious bank holidays. From eating your weight in Easter eggs to partying - we've rounded up a few things you might be interested in.

Birmingham

If you fancy hunting around for Easter eggs in a traditional setting, there are a bunch of National Trust houses including Clent Hills, Baddesley Clinton, Moseley Old Hall, Packwood House, Wightwick Manor and Gardens, Kinver Edge and Coughton Cour that are taking part in a National Trust Easter Egg Hunt. As it's the National Trust, you know that chocolate will be damn good.

Newcastle

If a traditional family gathering isn't your thing - and fair enough - why not celebrate Easter by heading to Skull Kandi and shaking it up? Just don't take your tiny bottle of buckie with you.

Manchester

Kicking of Easter a day early is Midnight Riot - coming to Manchester for the first time ever. If you like your disco nights then this one is for you.

London

It's London, so you know that there's a lot of stuff going on, but you should check out Your Mum's House - for the name if not anything else. Boating a filthy bass line that would make your mum blush, it's not for the faint-hearted. If you fancy kicking it to a soundtrack of bassy house, hip hop, old school bangers, trap, R&B, UK garage this one is for you.

Glasgow

Might as well make most of the bank holiday on Monday by going out late on Sunday evening. Mindset Easter Sunday with Dana Ruh promises to be a belter of a night out at the Berkley Suite. Four sweet hours of techno and house from the famous Berlin DJ!
