​TikTok Star Swavy Dies Aged 19 Following Shooting

TikTok star Swavy has died following a fatal shooting earlier this week, police in Delaware confirmed.

Swavy, whose real name is Matima Miller, has been identified as the victim in a 'fatal shooting incident' on Monday 5 July.

Wilmington Police Department said the 19-year-old was transported to hospital, but sadly he later died from his injuries.

A statement released on Monday said police were investigating 'a fatal shooting incident that occurred at approximately 10:42 a.m. in the 700 block of Elbert Place'.

It added: "Police located a 19-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries."

An updated statement from Wilmington Police said: "The victim in this incident has been identified as Matima Miller.

"This incident remains under investigation and further details will be released when possible.

"Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Mackenzie Kirlin at (302) 576-3653.

"You can also provide information to Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or delawarecrimestoppers.org."

Swavy had 2.7 million followers on TikTok under the handle @babyface.s, along with more than 100 million likes.

He was known for sharing dance videos and comedy skits, often including his friends.

A GoFundMe has since been set up for Swavy's 'Official Memorial Fund', with the link now displaying in his TikTok bio.

The campaign description reads: "On the behalf of our family, we would like to say thank you for the continued support and love for Matima Miller also known as Swavy or Babyface.

"It is with great sadness that we announce Swavy's passing on 07/05/2021. He was taken away from us due to a senseless act of gun violence.

"Unfortunately, due to legality we are not able to provide much information on the events surrounding his passing. However, the family is working diligently to get justice for Swavy. This is just the beginning.

"We will forever keep his name alive and continue his legacy! As we deal with this heartbreak, we ask for your support in ensuring our son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend has a legendary home going ceremony.

"You can support us by contributing to Matima Miller's Official GoFundMe account. Whether you can donate $1 or $100, it will be greatly appreciated and put to good use. We pray that you will continue to support our family through this difficult time."

So far, the GoFundMe has raised more than $8,000 (£5,700) of its $20,000 (£14,500) goal.
