US President Donald Trump's Twitter account has now been permanently suspended by Twitter because of 'the risk of further incitement of violence'.
Trump received a 12 hour ban after the events in Washington DC on Wednesday, but now Twitter has removed him for good.
The official Twitter Safety account wrote: "After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.
"In the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action.
"Our public interest framework exists to enable the public to hear from elected officials and world leaders directly. It is built on a principle that the people have a right to hold power to account in the open.
"However, we made it clear going back years that these accounts are not above our rules and cannot use Twitter to incite violence. We will continue to be transparent around our policies and their enforcement."
The US President has been a prolific user of Twitter, and has often preferred to communicate with his vociferous fanbase via the social media app.

However, after the violence in Washington the other day, during which Trump supporters stormed the Capitol Building after a rally, Twitter issued him with a ban, citing the incitement of violence amongst their reasons.
They have also been adding disclaimers to his posts claiming that the November 3 election was in some way fraudulent or 'stolen' from the outgoing president.
Issuing the first ban, Twitter said: "As a result of the unprecedented and ongoing violent situation in Washington, D.C., we have required the removal of three @realDonaldTrump Tweets that were posted earlier today for repeated and severe violations of our Civic Integrity policy.
"This means that the account of @realDonaldTrump will be locked for 12 hours following the removal of these Tweets. If the Tweets are not removed, the account will remain locked."
Trump returned to Twitter after the first ban to post a relatively conciliatory message in which he said he was committed to an orderly transfer of power to the Biden administration.
He was also recently banned from Facebook until 'the peaceful transition of power is complete'.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote: "We believe the risks of allowing the president to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great."
That Facebook ban also prohibits Trump from posting on Instagram.
