A little boy with cerebral palsy has had his walker and wheelchair stolen from outside his home by heartless thieves.

Jaye Cook, aged nine, had his specialist walker and wheelchair taken while he was at a funfair. He uses the wheelchair to get around at school, with his mobility having improved since having two operations.

He also found a new lease of life after being given his distinctive blue walker - and even plays on a frame football team.

Mel, Jaye's mum, said: "It's changed his life, having that walker and playing football.

"It's only been possible because he has had two operations and now he can walk well with it."

The mum-of-two has said that she only left the wheelchair and walker outside the family home in Kingswood, Bristol, for 15 minutes, before they vanished from sight.

"I was unloading the car as we'd just been to Funderworld," she explained.

"I put them right up against the front of the house, under the window and behind the wheelie bin.

"We were in and out, but it must've been only ten or 15 minutes and someone took them."

It was then that Mel tried knocking on neighbours doors to see if she could find her son's equipment, but had no luck.

She was dreading having to tell Jaye that his possessions had been stolen when he returned from from his dad's house.

Mel added: "I am begging you for my son's sake please return it.

"He didn't deserve this - neither did I. Life is hard enough for the pair of us."

A Just Giving page has now been set up for Jaye, raising money to help him replace the wheelchair and walker.

The page explains: "It's really shocking news to hear that Jaye's walking frame and wheelchair were stolen from outside of his own house in Kingswood in Bristol.

"Jaye is unable to walk without his frame. He will not be able to play framed football with out his frame and he will struggle to get around school without his wheel chair and frame.

"We are fundrasing to help pay for a new frame and wheelchair for Jaye.

Generous fundraisers have donated over £4,800 so far, far surpassing the original £3,000 target.

Comedian Jason Manford also got behind the appeal and shared it on his Charity Ninjas Facebook page, encouraging people to anonymously donate £2.
