Unfazed Guy Sits And Smokes At Bar As Armed Robbery Takes Place

This probably isn't the reaction the gunman was expecting

You don't really know how you'll react when faced with a gun until it happens to you. Most of us like to think we would disarm the assailant with a swift judo chop, though it's probably more likely that we would freeze/soil ourselves.

However, one bloke in the US acted like he'd stared down the barrel of countless firearms during an armed robbery on Wednesday (28 August).

CCTV footage from Behrmann's Tavern in St. Louis, Missouri, shows an armed gunman storm into the watering hole as punters and staff put their hands up and cower below the bar.

But one geezer - since named as Tony Tovar - doesn't seem to give a solitary s***, casually sipping on his drink and playing on his phone as all around him fear for their lives.

Presumably a little baffled, the robber approaches the pub-goer and prods him with his weapon, before attempting to take the phone out of his hand - like a supply teacher desperately trying to assert authority over an unruly pupil.

However, Tony is having none of it, maintaining a grasp of his phone before lighting a cigarette as the gunman forages behind the bar, intermittently pointing his weapon at the unsettlingly blasé bloke propping up the bar.

The fella's courage/daftness seems to inspire the guy next to him, who attempts to get to his feet, but this seems to take the robber's biscuit, who then points his rifle into his back and makes him empty his wallet.

He notably doesn't try and get anything from Tony, who appears to be chatting s*** to the robber the whole time.

The footage ends with the robber making off with his loot - which came to about $300 (£245), according to the Wichita Eagle - with Tony still puffing away like the whole thing never happened.

The gunman seemed understandably baffled by the lack of s***s Tony had to give.

Speaking about the incident, Tony told KSDK: "I said not another punk trying to pull a punk move. I'm so tired of people in South City thinking they can control people because they wanna muscle their way in with firearms or attitudes or some sort of aggression.

"I wasn't really concerned. I just had a really good feeling he wasn't out to harm anybody, he just wanted drug money."

Glad you had a good feeling Tony - we sure didn't.

The robber has not been named and St. Louis Police said an investigation is ongoing.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the robbery - though we wouldn't recommend deploying Tony's attitude if you find yourself in a similar situation.
