Washington State has given cannabis stores the green light to run 'Joints for Jabs' promotions.

The Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) said it hoped the temporary allowance will encourage people to receive a Covid-19 vaccine.

In a statement released yesterday (Monday 7 June), the board said: "In an effort to support Covid-19 vaccinations, the Liquor and Cannabis Board today announced that it would provide a temporary allowance to state licensed cannabis retailers to provide one joint to adult consumers who receive a vaccination at an in-store vaccination clinic.

"The LCB received multiple requests from cannabis retail licensees to engage in promotions to support state vaccination efforts.

"This allowance is effective immediately. The allowance is optional for licensees, and will expire on 12 July, 2021."

On the other side of the country in Washington, DC, weed activists ran a major Joints for Jabs drive in time for 4/20 - a hallowed day in cannabis culture.

DC Marijuana Justice amassed thousands of 'doob tubes' to give out to people who got vaccinated.

"I got really motivated when I heard about protests at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles by anti-vaccination activists, who are also well-known cannabis activists," DCMJ co-founder Adam Eidinger told LADbible in March.

"And I thought, 'Wow, why are these cannabis activists - who I respect - putting any kind of energy into this?'

"To be anti-vax is to be in a death cult as far as I'm concerned."

He added: "You know, 4/20 has been kind of a self-indulgent holiday over the years... But you know, this is not a time for self-indulgence.

"This is a time for action, and doing something that's going to encourage good public behaviour."

If getting free weed is your thing, then you might be interested in an internship that has come up in California (and really jealous if you don't live in California).

The lucky candidate will get paid to smoke, eat and review more than 600 marijuana products for pot delivery company Emjay.

The position will be paid at a rate of $15 (£10) per hour, up to 16 hours per week - although obviously the copious amounts of free weed represent the main perk of the job.

You'll also be entitled to an employee discount, in case the 600+ products you'll be reviewing don't quite fill your boots.

You can find out more about that here.
