A Reddit user who'd joined an online dating site quickly learned that you need to be careful what you put as your bio, after attracting a slew of drug dealers.

Confused? Well, Reddit user iamananimal28 has gone viral on the message board after sharing a screenshot of her bio that she'd posted onto the unnamed dating site.

The user's account bio reads 'Just looking for an oxytocin fix and to be on my way' - given oxytocin is a hormone that's commonly referred to as 'the love drug', as it's released during hugging and orgasm, it's surely pretty clear what she's after, right?

Not quite.

Unfortunately for her, she quickly started receiving messages from people offering her 'oxy' - short for the painkiller oxycodone, which can become addictive.

One user wrote to her: "So you're looking for oxy," to which she replied: "Lol, oxytocin is is naturally produced hormone. It's the love/cuddle chemical our brains produce."

Another, also eager to help, wrote: "So I've only got a morphine hookup. Would that work?" To which she replied: "Haha, well seeing as I'm a former opiate addict I'm gonna have to give that a hard pass. Though, I appreciate the gesture."

Far from being demoralised, the apparent drug dealer countered, "Ah gotcha. So you're saying we should stick to amphetamines...?" Unsurprisingly, they didn't get a reply.

The post was met with a good deal of amusement, with one user writing: "I couldn't believe bro took a swing with that LMMAAAOOO he was doing his best."

Other users, meanwhile, were sure that her would-be suitors were surely joking, with one replying: "That almost has to be a joke. Maybe. I'm not around people who do morphine though, so maybe it's actually not a joke. But I think it's a joke. Message him again op."

One user suggested that she change her biog, suggesting that people might understand what she meant if she used dopamine or serotonin instead of oxytocin.

They were rebuked by the poster, though, who said: "But I mean, it wouldn't be correct.

"I mean, dopamine a bit since it is involved with pleasure but oxytocin is what is associated with love and bonding. Which expresses what I'm seeking, just want to be reminded I still am able to connect with people and hit the road.

"Granted, at least some people immediately got it."

By the sounds of it, at least some of the people getting in touch were not, in fact, offering drugs and genuinely understood what it was that she was after.

Still, this is a stern lesson in thinking carefully about what you put in your online dating bio.
