A love triangle has brought down an American hate group, according to reports in the US.

Reports suggest the Traditional Worker Party has gone to shit after its spokesman found out his wife was having an affair with one of the party's leaders, who also happens to be married to his stepdaughter.

As the Daily Beast reports, Matt Heimbach, leader of the Traditional Worker Party, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting his wife and his spokesman.

Brooke Heimbach, his wife, and Matt Parrott, the party spokesmen, are reported to have used cardboard boxes to spy on Heimbach and Parrot's wife at a trailer park in Paoli, Indiana.

Parrot's wife, Jessica, was allegedly having an affair with Heimbach, who is married to Parrott's stepdaughter from a previous marriage.

Though Parrott had been assured the affair was over, he and Brooke Heimbach remained skeptical.

The pair are said to have attempted to 'set up' Heimbach, and spied on him and Parrot's wife.

Potter's testament in a police report says: "I spotted my wife and her boyfriend preparing to have sex and [sic] my trailer on my property. I confronted them and demanded that he leave my property. He refused. I poked his chest."

He then writes that Heimbach 'choked me', that after leaving the trailer he 'threw a chair at him' before being 'choked out', and adds that Brooke (Heimbach's wife) has a phone with a recording of the incident.

He later fled to Walmart, where he phoned the police. After interviewing Parrott, police called round to Heimbach's home. He was reportedly still with Parrot's wife, Jessica, who said she was just a neighbour and left.

Heimbach is reported to have sent his own wife out to 'send the police away and tell them everything was fine'.

He is then alleged to have assaulted his wife, with her testament in the report stating that he 'grabbed my cheeks, making them bleed' and threw onto the bed.

He was arrested and charged with battery, strangulation, intimidation and domestic battery committed in the physical presence of a child. The couple's two children were present.

Jessica Parrot and Matthew Heimbach are listed in the police report as White Nationalists under occupation, while David Parrot is listed as White Nationals.

Since the incident, Parrott has taken down the Traditional Worker Party website and announced his resignation to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors hate groups.

As the Center reports, he later wrote on the alt-right social media platform Gab: "I have attempted to be a positive, uplifting, and unifying voice in the nationalist cause.

"At a certain point, even the most stubborn man must hold himself accountable to the fruit of his labor. My focus from here on out will be exclusively infrastructure and logistics."

When asked by the Daily Beast if there would be more mass resignations from the party, Parrott replied: "There is no more party ma'am. Goodbye."
