A woman got so angry that her drive-thru order was taking too long at a Burger King restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee, that she opened fire, according to Memphis Police.

The woman became irate when waiting for her order at a Burger King restaurant on Winchester Road when she pulled out a gun and started shooting.

According to the police, she was waiting in the queue for her drive-thru food but then got out of her car, walked over to the service window and started arguing with a member of staff.

Surveillance footage from the car park of the restaurant then shows the woman pulling out a black handgun from her car, leaning through the drive-thru window of the restaurant and opening fire.

Mercifully, none of the employees of the Burger King were hurt and managed to escape the restaurant through the back door, police said.

The woman drove off in this car.

Memphis Police are seeking information from anyone who knows who the woman is or anything about the crime.

They have asked anyone who might have any information to help with their enquiries to call Crime Stoppers on 901-528-CASH.

In a statement, Burger King said it does not condone any form of violence and confirmed the restaurant is co-operating fully with the police department's investigations.

The statement reads: "We do not tolerate or condone violence of any kind at our restaurants because the safety of our team members and guests is our top priority.

"Fortunately, no one in the restaurant was injured during this incident. The restaurant operator is fully cooperating with authorities on their ongoing investigation."

At the time of writing, it is believed that the woman is still at large.

Anyone who can provide information that leads to the arrest of the shooter could be in line to receive a reward up to $1,000.

She reached through the drive-thru window and started shooting.

Eddie House, a customer at the Burger King, told ABC7: "Crime is just getting bad everywhere now," adding that he was disappointed by the woman's actions, but was not surprised.

He continued: "More security, more police in the area would probably help."

Dewayne Wilson, another customer at the restaurant, said: "I hate they was impatient.

"Kids work there. So you know, that's the thing."

He added: "That's kind of messed up, I'm glad everyone is OK."
