A woman who was assaulted in the toilets of a pub in Coventry has shared shocking images of her injuries on her Facebook page.

Anne-Marie Szwed allegedly suffered the gruesome injuries after her head was smashed against a bathroom sink five times by a jealous girlfriend.

Szwed claims that the woman's boyfriend had looked at her as she passed on the way to the toilets. This angered the woman enough to follow her into the bathrooms to assault her.

The attack - which took place in The Oak Inn in the early hours of last Saturday morning - left the ladies toilets covered in blood.

The 33-year-old mum, who is a former confidence coach, is understandably still shaken by the incident and is struggling to leave the house as a result of the trauma she has suffered.

She said: "It's been a really shocking and life altering time for me so I'm still trying to process it.

"It took two medics to hold my head together to stop the blood whilst they gave me anaesthetic and stitched me up.

"Part of my previous job was to be a confidence coach, now I can't leave the house. I can't work and my mental health has suffered."

In her original social media post she shared images of the aftermath of the events alongside graphic photos of her injuries and the scene of the crime.

She wrote: "To the girl who thinks this is OK, shame on you.

"Just because your disgusting boyfriend watched me walk to the toilet I deserve to have my head smashed off the sink five times?

"I don't know you nor him, but this shows me what you're made of and it disgusts me."

West Midlands Police attended the scene on Friday night alongside an ambulance crew. They released a statement which read: "Police are investigating an assault on a woman at the Oak Inn, Gosford Street, Coventry which took place on Saturday 24 February.

"At around 4.40am, a 33-year-old woman was followed into the ladies toilets by an unknown woman who grabbed her hair and hit her head against a windowsill.

"The attacker then left the premises. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment for cuts and bruising to her head."

However, Szwed claims she is having to chase the police to get any updates despite around 20 officers attending the scene.

She said: "It's very disappointing from the police as they were straight to site along with an ambulance."
