Tina Frost was one of the hundreds of people who were injured when Stephen Paddock opened fire on the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas. She was shot in her right eye and was in a coma after she arrived in hospital and underwent surgery.

Despite the bullet getting lodged in her brain, doctors managed to carefully extract it; but there will be fragments that will remain in her head for the rest of her life. After a few more tests, the 27-year-old was taken out of her medically induced coma.

Tina will never see out of her right eye; however, specialists believe she'll still have perfect vision in the left. Her rehabilitation is expected to last for many months, however her spirits have been buoyed by a few special visitors.

The first was Charles Esten, who plays the character Deacon Claybourne from the show Nashville, which is one of Tina's favourite programmes. A friend of hers, Pam Ostiguy Clark, said: "He was so sweet and came by to sing three songs and even left her an autograph. She's going to be so excited when she sees the autograph."

A few members of the local fire department and police station dropped by to check in on her, before former NASA astronaut Mike Kelly came in to see her. His wife Congresswoman Gabby Gibbons was shot in the head six years ago and Mike wanted to see Tina to ask about her progress. Pam added: "[Mike was] amazing, he was moving and relatable, very motivational and truly understood everything."

A few days ago, Tina had surgery to reconstruct a portion of her skull which was damaged by the bullet. Surgeons took tissue from the back of her scalp to seal up the wound to prevent any leakage or infection.

Her friends and family have started a GoFundMe page, which has raised an astonishing $577,455 (£437,934).

Plenty of people have left messages wishing her a speedy recovery. One person wrote: "Tina you are an inspiration. You exemplify courage, and hope for many who are going through epic ordeals. So happy to hear of the many big steps your taking on your road to recovery."

Tina has since taken more than 160 steps, with the help of a nurse, and it's a promising advancement for someone who was shot in the head - a feat that not many people survive.

Good luck Tina.
