Woman Snatched From Hospital As A Baby Defends Her Kidnapper

A very confusing affair.

What a scary thought - imagine the woman who brought you up was actually your kidnapper! What if she had stolen you from the hospital as a baby, while disguised as a nurse and taken you home?

This is what reportedly happened to Kamiyah Mobley, who was allegedly snatched from the hospital as a newborn in 1998 and has been living all her life as Alexis Manigo.

She was just eight hours old when Gloria Williams snuck into the hospital dressed as a nurse and took the baby away from exhausted birth mother Shanara.

Since she was so young, there were no photos of her so police had to mock up a photo to use in their investigations.

She had no idea about her true identity until Gloria was arrested in Waleterboro and a DNA test proved she was Kamiyah Mobley.

The teenager is pretty upset - as you would be - and is heavily in denial. She's said: "My mom is no felon" and cried when Gloria was taken into custody.

Alexis and Gloria are clearly very close - when Gloria was on trial, she blew a kiss to the teenager she responded by shouting she loved her.

Here is the moment that Gloria says goodbye to the woman accused of kidnapping her...

Alexis has written on Facebook: "My mother raised me with everything I needed and most of all everything I wanted." The ignorant ones won't understand it." Alexis' real father said he had never given up hope. "Every day I wake up, and I think, she's waking up too."

Alexis spoke to her biological family via Skype and said she thought she looked like her dad.
Her grandma said her granddaughter seemed really intelligent and respectful and says she will meet them soon. "You tell everybody that Friday the 13th ain't always a bad day" she told The Daily Mirror: "This is a good day for us!"

Sheriff Mike Williams commented: "She has a lot to process." That's an understatement, buddy!
