Woolworths has made a big decision to bring back paper bags for customers, in a bid to be more environmental.

The supermarket giant is rolling out the bags at 20 cents each initially just as a trial at 21 stores.

No doubt, they'll be testing to see whether the public is keen on them over plastic bags before rolling it out across the country.

A Woolies spokesperson has news.com.au: "The vast majority of our customers bring their own bags to shop, but we know there are occasions when they forget or visit our stores unplanned.

"Some customers have told us they would like the option of a paper bag when this happens."

These paper bags will be recyclable and reusable.

"We're trialling paper bags in around 20 stores to test customer demand and will closely monitor feedback as we do," the spokesperson added.

Obviously paper bags present some tricky situations in the sense that they damage easier than plastic and become almost unusable when they get wet.

However, when companies do their bit to try and stop plastic pollution from increasing then it's difficult not to get on board with it.

Woolies hasn't announced how long the trial will go for until it makes a decision on whether to put the paper bags out nationwide, nor has it indicated which stores will get them. You'll just have to keep your eyes peeled.
