No doubt many of you will have spent the last 18 months dreaming of far-flung adventures in the sunshine, hoping that one day you'll be catching some rays with a refreshing drink in some tropical location. Well, how about ambling through the Mexican countryside on a dedicated tequila train, where you can not only enjoy some stunning scenery, but also enjoy a tipple or two while you're at it?

After having to temporarily halt service last year, Jose Cuervo's tequila train is now back in action after welcoming booze lovers on board again from last December, with dates available now through to the end of 2021.

Currently, Mexico is on the UK's red list, meaning anyone who travels there must quarantine in a hotel upon arriving home and be tested both before you travel back and while isolating - so you may want to hold off packing your bags just yet.

But hopefully one day soon it'll be downgraded to amber or green for stress-free travel, allowing you to sit back and enjoy your tequila without any worries.

The Jose Cuervo Express takes guests through the stunning agave landscape of Mexico, travelling from Guadalajara to the town of Tequila.

Prices start from MXN $2,420 (£90/US $122) per person - or MXN $2,000 (£74/US $101) for youngsters aged six to 17 - for the Express package, with Premium Plus, Diamond and Elite upgrades also available if you're willing to splash a little more cash.

For the price of an Express ticket, you get travel on board the Express wagon, a trip to agave fields, Mexican snacks and cocktails, games, guided tastings, tours, traditional toasts with premium tequila and more.

The website says: "Traveling by train is an unforgettable experience, and getting on the Jose Cuervo Express, the only old-style train in all of Mexico, is the best way to celebrate a magical day with your family.

"Imagine the faces of the little ones when they see the gleaming convoy in amazement. Older people will surely be moved by the memory of other times.

"The train takes you to the Magical Town of Tequila, where a day full of activities awaits. We begin with a visit to La Rojeña® Distillery, the oldest distillery in Latin America, games, a visit to the agave fields, music and shows."

With departures on Saturdays every 15 days, you can also choose between a 'Sunrise' or 'Sunset' itinerary.

On the Sunrise schedule, you depart on the Jose Cuervo Express train from Guadalajara at 9am, enjoying a tasting on board with an 'expert taster' before arriving in Tequila at 11am.

You then go on a walk through of the Mundo Cuervo facilities, have a look around Tequila and watch a 'Mexican show', heading to the agave fields at 6pm for a harvesting demo.

After leaving Tequila at 6.30pm, you then arrive at Casa Cuervo at 8pm.

With the Sunset trip, you still leave at 9am but do the journey essentially in reverse, meaning you start off by leaving Casa Cuervo for the agave fields, later hopping on the train at 6pm to make your way to Guadalajara.
