YouTube star Gabi DeMartino has apologised after she posted a home video of herself from when she was a child on her OnlyFans account, which subsequently led to it being shut down.

DeMartino came under fire after she charged $3 for fans to watch the childhood home video, and captioned it: "Won't put my panties on."

The YouTuber has some three million subscribers on her channel, which she has amassed largely due to her vlogs and lifestyle videos.

It was a follower on Twitter who prompted the apology, after commenting: "Um @gabcake you better make a statement ASAP about this onlyfans s***...you better not be trolling with kid pics and thinking that's OKAY."

DeMartino replied, saying: "A childhood video of me on the phone sayin 'Nani says put your panties back on' and jumping up and down laughing [sic]."

She added: "I'm sorry I didn't think that one through. period. a home-video i love to share w my friends & i use my OF as a 'finsta' [Fake Instagram] page where i share stuff as i would w friends [sic]."

The YouTuber went on to say: "The video was a goofy throwback family moment that I wanted to share with my personal OnlyFans fancy babies.

"I am sorry that this wasn't thought out completely, I apologise. The video is down now. I am sorry again if this came out wrong."

Officially OnlyFans is a content subscription service, with fans paying to see content from its users. However, it's gained a reputation for its adult content over time, with stars like Bella Thorne, Tana Mongeau and Erika Costell operating accounts on the service and charging for content.

What DeMartino posted was deemed beyond the conditions of OnlyFans, however. A spokesperson for the service provider told LADbible: "I can confirm that the account in question was deactivated in violation of OnlyFans' Terms of Service."

Fans were split on her apology on Twitter, with some seeming unconvinced.

"I'm sorry but she knew exactly what she was doing. How on earth can you defend posting a video of a CHILD with this as the caption?" wrote one user.

Another added: "This is literally child pornography... I don't get why this is so hard for people to grasp and why people are defending it?"

However, others defended her statement, with one account holder commenting: "i can see why people would be upset about this but i'm sure that wasn't your intentions at all wtf... you're page is too show things u wouldn't be able to show anywhere else its ok love [sic]!"

Another said: "i really don't think she meant it how y'all are thinking. i think she just wanted to show y'all that she's always been a goofball since she was young. the fact that she didn't even see it as sexual herself says a lot. y'all blow everything out of proportion. i hope you're OK Gabi [sic]."
