A lesbian couple have caused a stir on social media after offering followers the chance to win a vial of donor sperm.
LGBTQ+ influencers Allie and Sam, from Canada, have teamed up with a sperm bank and have asked people to follow them and tag a friend in their post in order to enter.
The couple shared a snap of themselves together holding a sign that read: "Donor sperm giveaway."

It was posted to their Instagram account with the caption: "We are so, so excited to be partnering with [Fairfax Cryobank] to (hopefully!) help one of you grow your family!
"Winner will receive one vial of donor sperm from [Fairfax Cryobank] + free shipping, and will be announced and contacted via DM on August 20th.
"Contest open to residents of Canada + the US. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Instagram."

But the competition and the two women have come in for some criticism from people who think it's quite a strange thing to be giving away.
Commenting on the snap, one person said: "This is the most surreal-yet-believable thing I've seen all week."
While another added: "Are we all really existing [right now] or is this just someone's hilarious fever dream?? Idk but I'm getting a kick out of it."
Writing on Twitter, another said they were just confused, saying: "Nice idea, but like, very strange we are giving away sperm on Instagram in 2020? I mostly just think influencers are baffling as a profession lol."
However, there were a lot of people who thanked the couple for offering them a lifeline.

One person said: "My wife and I are so excited to start a family but boy is this stuff expensive. This would be incredible for us."
A second user wrote: "We just started our IVF process. This would be a dream / big time saving in the already huge bill. Thank you for the opportunity ladies."
A third commented: "Wow how frickin crazy! My gf and I decided we finally wanted to try for a baby and then I wake up to this."
While another added: "This is amazing! My wife Allie and I are just starting the process. We have been looking at @fairfaxcryobank - this would be such a huge help!!!"
