CNN's Van Jones Has Tearful Response To News Joe Biden Won The US Election

CNN's Van Jones was left with tears in his eyes after he made a passionate speech following the news that Joe Biden had won the US presidential election.

Political commentator Jones was left visibly emotional as he spoke after Biden was announcedd as the winner.

"It's easier to be a dad this morning. It's easier to tell your kids, 'character matters, being a good person matters,'" Jones said.

"And it's easier for a whole lot of people. If you're Muslim in this country, you don't have to worry that the president doesn't what you here.

"If you're an immigrant, you don't have to worry if the president is happy your baby has been snatched away - or send Dreamers back for no reason."

Wiping his eyes with a handkerchief as he spoke, Jones added: "This is vindication for a lot of people who really have suffered. You know, 'I can't breathe'. That was not just George Floyd. There were a lot of people who felt like they couldn't breathe.

"Every day you're waking up and you're getting these tweets and you just don't know.

"And you're going to the store and people who have been afraid to show their racism are getting nastier and nastier to you.

"And you're worried about your kids and you're worried about your sister - can she just go to Walmart and get back into her car without somebody saying something to her?"

He ended his speech by saying it was a 'good day' for lots of people in the country.

"I want my sons to look at this," he said. "It's easy to do it the cheap way and get away with stuff but it comes back around.

"And it's a good day for this country, I'm sorry for the people who lost, it's not a good day for them but for a whole lot of people it's a good day."

Jones' emotional reaction has quickly gone viral online with many saying they'd also been in tears after watching the clip.

Actor Edward Norton wrote: "Thank you @VanJones68I mean, I didn't plan to be weeping along with you in front of my kids in the kitchen but you're right... it's easier to be a parent today. Easier to tell them truth matters & character matters."
