Crikey! Aussie Prime Minister Causes Controversy Over 'Baby And Beer' Picture

People can't agree on whether it's okay or not

Whenever an Australia politician goes viral for doing something outlandish or daft, I always think to myself: 'What would the response be like if this had happened in Britain?'

Like former Opposition Leader Kevin Rudd, who once wound up in a Manhattan strip club. His response: he was too pissed to remember how he'd got there. Or Tony Abbott, who after being ousted as Prime Minister, partied shirtless and chugged schooners with students in Sydney pubs. Or former Aussie PM Bob Hawke, who famously skols a pint at the cricket every year.

And after a bit of consideration, I usually find myself unable to imagine any hypothetical situation where any of those things would ever happen here in Britain. Our scandals tend to be horrendous or bizarre, rather than a bit... well, boisterous. There's not a fucking chance.

So I just want you to consider for a second that Malcolm Turnbull, the Aussie Prime Minister, posted an image of himself 'multitasking' to Facebook over the weekend:

The post has received over 17,000 likes on Facebook - but as you can imagine it's also attracted its fair share of criticism.

However one commenter pointed out that, judging by the yardstick set by previous Aussie PMs, this barely registered as a contentious issue.

And others jumped in to defend him.

I imagine it's hard balancing being Prime Minister and being a banter merchant.
