Rebel Wilson Bravely Shares Her Story Of Being Sexually Harassed By ‘Big Time’ Film Director And Actor

Rebel Wilson stated in BBC interview that she was made a victim of sexual harassment by both a ‘big time’ film director and an actor.

Rebel Wilson has stated during a BBC interview that she was made a victim of sexual harassment by both a ‘big time’ film director and an actor.

The 41-year-old revealed that the first incident of harassment occurring when she was in her 20’s and took place when she was invited to speak with the ‘big time’ director in his hotel room.

At the time, the Pitch Perfect actor was unaware of the director’s intentions and said to the BBC that: “I literally thought I was going to have a meeting about comedy and talk about comedy.”

She detailed however, that things took a turn when 'he kept trying to give me more and more alcohol'.

While in the hotel room, Wilson was then present to a phone conversation, which she could 'clearly hear', between the Director and his wife, when she heard the wife say: “You’ve got Rebel in that hotel room; you were going to sleep with her.”

It was at this moment when Rebel became aware of the situation around her. She stated that she remembered thinking “Oh my god. What is this? What’s going on?”

She continued: “If I hadn’t had heard her voice on the phone, screaming through the phone, what could’ve happened?”

The second instance of sexual harassment that the Australian actor bravely detailed occurred when Wilson was actually on a film set.

She recalled being invited to a trailer by one of her male co-stars where she met not only him but his friends ready to record a video on their phones.

When walking into the trailer, Rebel was met by the co-star pulling down his pants and asking her to perform sexual acts, whilst his friends laughed.

On this incident Wilson said: “I was in shock, I was like, ‘What’s going on?’ Just kept saying, ‘no, what is this?’ Like, ‘no, no, no’.”

After the harassment occurred, the comedian stated that she reported it to the studio, who revealed it was the fourth complaint they had received about the actor.

In the end, she decided to stay working on the project, but explained this decision as follows: “This was before ‘Me Too’. I didn’t quite know what to do and I was in a foreign country.”

On the place she’s in now, Wilson said: “Now I have the courage to be like, OK, that is disgusting.”

In the same interview the Bridesmaids actor discussed receiving push-back from her team regarding her weight loss.

She stated that when she told her team of her weight-loss intentions, they were like 'why? Why would you want to do that?’ Because I was earning millions of dollars being the funny fat girl.”
