Unless you have been living under a rock, you will know that Tyson Fury took to the ring last night and defeated Deontay Wilder in one of the most hotly-anticipated bouts of their generation.

But despite having stopped the Bronze Bomber in the seventh round, it wasn't just the Gypsy King's incredible performance that got people talking. It was also his gumshield.

Always one to make a statement, the 31-year-old Brit wore a green and white mouthguard emblazoned with the word 'Nigeria'.

Since the fight ended, fans have speculated that it was an intentional jibe at fellow heavyweight Anthony Joshua, who has Nigerian heritage, and with whom he has been trying to set up a fight for some time.

But now AJ has come out and broken his silence over the matter, sharing two photos to his Instagram account story. The first was a snap of Joshua and a group of soldiers holding his belt, captioned with the word 'Gladiators'; the second was a close-up of Fury's face, with the gumshield in full view and the similar caption 'Gladiator'.

Could this mean the world's top two punchers finally get it on? We hope so. One thing is for certain, fans definitely want it.

As soon as the fight was over, talk of a unification fight with Joshua - who holds the other three versions of the world title - fired up on social media, with fans calling on the two to meet in the ring in a box office Battle of Britain.

One person tweeted yesterday: "Anthony Joshua Vs Tyson Fury at Wembley Stadium summer of 2020. Let's stop messing about here and get it done."

Another said: "@Tyson_Furydon't sell the British boxing fans down the river now Tyson!! You and @anthonyfjoshuahas to happen at Wembley stadium. Don't come with all that Vegas talk let's put a show on for boxing in the UK."

A third wrote: "Surely this sets up @Tyson_FuryVs @anthonyfjoshuaat Wembley? Make it happen!!!!!!!"

Fury himself is up for it, but only if Wilder doesn't want to invoke his rematch clause for their trilogy fight.

Fury responded to a question about the potential bout in a post-fight interview with Behind The Gloves, saying: "If Deontay don't want the rematch, then let's go AJ."

Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn has even guaranteed the fight will happen this year.

Hearn, who promotes Joshua, took to Twitter to appeal to the Gypsy King to forego the third instalment with the Bronze Bomber and instead take on his fellow British heavyweight, writing: "No need for a third let's go straight to it in the Summer! #undisputed."
