Last night, in what is said to be his last Olympic final, Usain Bolt went out with a bang.

Not that we were expecting anything less, the Bolt of lightening stormed an unparalleled triple of Olympic golds on a historic night for world athletics, the Mirror reports.

The Jamaican legend, who already reclaimed the top spot on the podium of both the 100m and 200m events, scored the hat-trick with yet another win in the 4 x 100m relay, as he stormed past the Japanese team for glory.

The world's fastest man, alongside his teammates Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake and Nickel Ashmeade, detonated his power down the home straight to make it an incredible nine golds in his Olympic career.

Bolt, who celebrates his 30th birthday on Sunday, came through the line with the support of a roaring crowd with the baton held high in the air before blowing kisses at the crowd.

Despite admitting his fatigued muscled in Thursday's 200m final, and this was his slowest Olympic relay race to date, he still managed to run the race in the fourth fastest time in history.
