Boy, 11, Just Broke Tony Hawk's 21-Year Vert Ramp Record
A young boy has just beaten a record set by skateboard legend Tony Hawk 21 years ago.
Skating prodigy Gui Khury, from Brazil, has shocked the world after a video was posted online showing him performing a 1080 spin on a vert ramp.
The incredible feat was posted on the 11-year-old's Instagram account by his parents.
The caption reads: "1080!!! I have no words to explain what just happened..."
It's been more than two decades since legend Hawk performed the fabled 900, the very first by a pro skater.
Hawk was 31 when he landed the trick after 10 failed attempts at the 1999 X Games, more than nine years before Gui was even born. Not even a twinkle in his dad's eye.
And while other skaters have landed the 1080 on numerous occasions since, with American Mitchie Brusco even making the 1260, they have all been performed on a 'mega ramp', which lends itself to the trick.
Following news of the Gui's record-breaking attempt, huge names from the skating community have come out and heaped praise on him for basically being totally badass.

Reposting the clip on his own Instagram story, Hawk hit out at the Olympics for not including the discipline in the upcoming games.
He said: "@gui_khury TEN EIGHTY!!!!... BUT VERT ISN'T IN THE OLYMPICS."
The official X Games account also shared the footage on Twitter, writing: "Gui Khury just became the first skateboarder in history to land a 1080 on a vert ramp! The Brazilian #XGames athlete is only 11 years old. Khury was born almost 9 1/2 years after @tonyhawk first landed the 900 at X Games."
And fans have also piled in to congratulate the young skater.
One fan commented: "Just keep spinning... This is sick! Corgrats on the 1080 Gui Khury."
A second joked: "Can't wait to play Gui Khury Pro Skater!"
A third said: "I feel like this should be bigger news. I'm gonna cop that Gui Khury's pro skater for ps5."
While another added: "Gui Khury just did the first 1080 on vert. He is 11 years old. Wow."
