Floyd Mayweather has taken to social media to suggest a rematch with Conor McGregor is on the cards for later this year.

The (not so) retired boxer defeated McGregor in Las Vegas back in August 2017, but following on from the Irishman's win last night, it looks as though Mayweather might be keen for another fight.

Mayweather posted a photo of him and McGregor with the words 'Mayweather McGregor 2 2020' written across it. It also has logos for UFC, Showtime, Mayweather Promotions and The Money Team.

While a proposed rematch has been talked about by fans for years, nothing official has ever been announced.

However, UFC boss Dana White has now revealed that he is talking to Mayweather, saying: "Floyd and I have been talking tonight. We're doing something with Floyd. There's so much going on, but Floyd is in our plans and we are in Floyd's plans this year. We'll end up doing something."

McGregor has previously said: "I'd like to rematch Floyd. I think we should rematch Floyd. I mean, he's flirting with it, and they want all this. And he can go and pick someone else. It's not going to be the same. It's not. I've done phenomenal in that bout."

Before fight fans even had a chance to digest the idea of a rematch, Mayweather shared a second post, seemingly hinting at a fight between him and Khabib Nurmagomedov - who defeated McGregor in October 2018.

The second image is similar to the first, showing both men with the words 'Mayweather Nurmagomdov 2020' across the bottom.

In the past Mayweather has said if he was to fight Nurmagomdov, it would be a boxing match and not an MMA bout.

Speaking to TMZ, he said: "They came to me talking about the Khabib fight. Khabib called me out, I didn't call Khabib out.

"They said it has to happen in the Octagon and I said, 'You just tell me where Khabib has made nine figures before in the Octagon'.

"If he hasn't made nine figures, he's not the A side. I'm the A side, so if you guys want the fight to happen, you must come my way. My way, my rules."

Following his 40-second win in Las Vegas last night, McGregor's camp will likely be looking to line up his next fight - so far, Jorge Masvidal and UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman have had their names thrown around.
