The former midfielder became ill on his 61st birthday, which he was celebrating today, and the BT presenter Jake Humphrey confirmed Glenn's condition.

He said he was 'taken seriously ill at the BT Sport studio this morning' and added via social media, 'Everyone of us is right with you Glenn, sending love and strength'.

He also explained the show set to feature Glenn had been cancelled, but their usual live show would go ahead.

He tweeted: "For that reason there will be no @btsportscore - but we will be live as usual for the 5.30 ko at Leicester. Everyone of us is right with you Glenn, sending love & strength."

Many celebrities and sports personalities have posted their support and well-wishes on social media.

Gary Lineker tweeted: "Hugely worrying news that Glenn Hoddle collapsed at the BT studios earlier. Thoughts are with him and his family. Come on Glenn."
