England captain Harry Kane got a fair bit of flak for missing a crucial chance to put England 2-0 up in the World Cup semi-final against Croatia, but new footage shows that that the Tottenham star was actually very unlucky not to score his seventh goal of the tournament.

Not too long after Kieran Trippier had given England a dream start with a wonderful fifth minute free-kick that David Beckham would have been proud of, Kane was cleverly played through one-on-one by Jesse Lingard and you would have put your house on him tucking it away.

He also had the opportunity to square the ball to Raheem Sterling for a tap-in but went for it himself and saw his first effort saved by Danijel Subasic.

The ball made its way back to Kane on the rebound and he took a touch to set himself before smashing it against the post from just a couple yards out.

Gareth Southgate's side would later rue that opportunity as Croatia turned the game around in Moscow, with Mario Mandzukic breaking England hearts in extra time after Ivan Perisic had levelled in normal time.

However, a different angle of the chance has been doing the rounds and it clearly shows that Subasic made the most incredible save with his foot to deflect Kane's effort onto the post. The strike was about to bulge the net but the Monaco goalkeeper's heroics kept out what would have been a definite goal.

We've been blessed with some great goalkeeping in this World Cup but that has to be the best save of the tournament.

Subasic has been the hero in two World Cup penalty shoot-outs for Croatia and boy did he save his country there.
