Nick Kyrgios has responded to Genie Bouchard's online plea for romance, after she tweeted to say quarantine would be 'a lot more fun with a boyfriend'.

Canadian tennis player Bouchard, 26, tweeted earlier this week saying: "Not complaining, but I feel like quarantine would be a lot more fun with a boyfriend."

As you'd imagine, the internet went a little wild for that - and even her fellow sportsman Nick Kyrgios couldn't resist.

The 24-year-old Aussie replied: "Creasing," followed by three crying-with-laughter emojis.

I can, of course, only speculate, but that definitely looks like flirting to me.

Many fans are here for it, too, with one tweeting a picture of the two tennis stars together and saying: "Nick, solve the situation."

Someone else suggested: "Not gonna slide into the DMs chief?"

The two go back a long way, having previously played mixed doubles together, and are also pals off-court.

Bouchard has even stood up for Kyrgios in the past, including during the aftermath of his explosive exit from the Miami Open last year.

Kyrgios, who has often been spotlighted for his controversial antics on the court, was knocked out in the fourth round after suffering a defeat to Borna Coric - but had also entered into a heated war of words with a spectator and the umpire, along with smashing a racquet.

Bouchard swept in to defend him on Instagram, reiterating the major exposure that he brought to tennis in the States for his actions. She wrote: "How is he not good for the sport? He has ESPN talking about tennis."

After her call-out for a boyfriend on Wedneday, Bouchard has since said her agent has been inundated by 'dating resumes' via the email address listed in her bio.

Begging people to stop emailing, she tweeted: "My agent just informed me you guys are sending 'dating resumes' to the email in my bio YALL NEED TO STOP."

She clearly saw the funny side though, having added three crying-with-laughter emojis (the same as Kyrgios earlier?! They're like two peas in a pod!) at the end of her tweet.

You can't knock a fan for trying, eh? After all, stranger things have happened...
