In what can only be described as the most non-league football news of all time, a goalkeeper has been sent off for urinating during play earlier today.

Salford City keeper Max Crocombe was sent off in the 87th minute for relieving himself during their match against Bradford Park Avenue.

Despite the fact he fact he had a slash, Salford still won the match 2-1.

The club is owned by businessman Peter Lim and former Manchester United players Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt. And you've got to think that Scholesy will have something to say about it.

Park Avenue secretary Colin Barker told the BBC after the match: "He was told by the steward twice not to do it and he went ahead and had a pee."

A spectator made a formal complaint about the incident and he's now been grassed up to the police.

Barker added: "He went to the side of the stand as I understand it. I didn't actually see it, but the referee definitely sent him off for it because he was alerted to it by his linesman."

Salford reacted to the dismissal by tweeting: "Red Card! Crocombe sees red for something off the ball. No one has a clue what has happened."

Predictably, people were all making the same joke on Twitter:

At the end of the day, when you gotta go, you gotta go.
