The Internet Is Being Very Mean To Mo Farah After Wearing Christmas Hat

The double-distance Olympic champion has been taking a whole heap of stick for the heinous crime of wearing a Christmas hat.

Some people just have no chill. They are usually on the internet shouting and raving about one thing or the other.

You would think that around the festive season they'd take a bit of time off and put their feet up, you'd be wrong.

Nobody and no-one is above their abuse either, not even if you've won a load of Olympic gold medals, are the current Sports Personality of the Year and are an all-round nice guy.

Yes, Sir Mo Farah has come in for a while whole load of stick on the internet in the last few days, which would be fine (sort of) if it was for something awful, like doping, or whatever.

But, as is so often the case, he hasn't even done anything wrong. In fact, all he did was wear a Christmas hat.

Sir Mo posted the jolly festive photo to his 667,000 Instagram followers and was met with dog's abuse.

One totally reasonable person wrote: "You are portraying pagan holiday characters ... this is wrong and Allah is most merciful SO PLEASE REPENT AND REMOVE THIS."

Another added: "You are being given the name of our beloved prophet Mohamed and it is better to protect the honourable name and your religion of Islam."

One then said: "Mohamed Farah shame on you. The respect I had for you went way down. Shame bro."

OK, we get it, you're offended, and maybe he should have thought, but surely any attempt at more tolerance and acceptance is great?

Mo Farah is a practising Muslim, and a British hero, so why should he not wish followers a Happy Christmas?

Luckily for Mo and the rest of civilised society, people have come to his defence.

One said: Just leave him alone he is just showing RESPECT to other religions"

Another added: "Mo is spreading love & positivity."

So at least not everyone is just waiting to jump down everyone else's throats online and deride a man who has given a lot of dedication and time to his country and is just trying to be nice.

Keep it up, Mo, LAD.
