Valentino Rossi Narrowly Avoids Being Hit By Stray Bike In High-Speed MotoGP Crash

MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi has miraculously escaped being hit by a stray bike travelling at around 200mph after a high-speed crash.

Rossi was riding behind teammate Maverick Vinales in the early stages of the Austrian Grand Prix when two riders - Franco Morbidelli and Johan Zarco - collided behind them.

As the men rolled along the ground following an entanglement in the braking area, their now-stray bikes flew across the tracks and right between Vinales and Rossi, missing them by a matter of inches.

The incident saw the race red flagged which means the collision was deemed so serious that a decision was made to temporarily stop.

Luckily, Zarco and Morbidelli got back on their feet, emerging from the crash unscathed, while the race was eventually able to be resumed once the debris was cleared.

Taking to Twitter, people have commented on how close Rossi was to being hit:

Others have been suggesting that someone was looking down on the riders, with one writing: "Rossi definitely has someone looking over him. Wow. The look on his face in the garage - just absolute shock & fear - and who can blame him. A terrifying incident that could've been catastrophic. Lucky to see everyone walk away from that."

Another added: "Someone up there saved Rossi and Vinales... I couldn't get myself to watch the incident..."

A third commented: "Rossi definitely has someone watching over him. Thank goodness both Morbidelli and Zarco were able to walk away from this."
