While it was fun to watch the eight Harry Potter films, most of us were left wanting to be more immersed into the magical world of Hogwarts. Unfortunately for us muggles, that universe doesn't exist and we'll all have to grapple with that reality one day or another.

But Warner Bros has teamed up with mobile game developer Jam City to try and give us something that is about as close as it gets to wandering the halls, casting spells and arguing with Snape.

Instead of being Harry, Ron or Hermione, you'll get to become your very own wizard in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.

According to Jam City, the user will be attending the famous wizarding school during the years between when 'The Boy Who Lived' was born and when he catches the Hogwarts Express for the very first time.

Jam City President Josh Yguado told GamesBeat: "We feel this is among the biggest and best intellectual properties in the world.

"It's also one of the least-exploited IPs in the mobile game space, and we love that. We think people are going to love it.

"This is much more story-driven and RPG-like. It is not a twitch game. We wanted to explore the player motivation, and really feeling like you are a student."

After seeing the trailer for the game, YouTube user Freddy Skaff says: "This is the game we've all been wishing for."

While it will be pretty awesome to select your own house out of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin and battle other students on the Hogwarts grounds, fans are still waiting for the mobile game that was announced late last year.

We were promised a Pokémon Go styled game that would allow you to interact with your natural surroundings with a magical twist. According to Tech Crunch Niantic Labs, which developed Pokémon Go, is developing the app but doesn't acknowledge when we can expect this masterpiece.

In a statement on its website, Niantic Labs says: "With Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, players that have been dreaming of becoming real life Wizards will finally get the chance to experience J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World.

"Players will learn spells, explore their real-world neighbourhoods and cities to discover & fight legendary beasts and team up with others to take down powerful enemies."

As we wait for that game to be released, we can enjoy Jam City's Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery and get caught up with magic again.
