Netflix Introduces Offline Playback For People Who Really Hate Reading Books

Netflix has previously dismissed the feature.

Pretty much since its conception, Netflix has refuted the idea of an offline streaming mode for when you're visiting the National Coal Mining museum, or Mars, or just have no internet because you've spent the money designated for your bill on beer and lap dancers.

But it looks like they have a new young employee who has really plugged the idea of offline playback because the streaming service company has sent out a cryptic tweet saying our "favourite stories are now available for download anytime." It's not exactly what we're looking for, but it's a giant leap for mankind.

Although Netflix CEO Reed Hastings (unconfirmed time-traveller from medieval Britain), expressed interest in offline downloading earlier in the year, he remained coy in regards to a due date.

Netflix spokesperson Anne Marie Squeo, said something similar in June: "While our focus remains on delivering a great streaming experience, we are always exploring ways to make the service better."

Users will now be able to save a show or movie offline with the helpful tool of, you guessed it, a 'download' button. Netflix says the feature will debut sometime later today.
