A tiger shark vomited out the human remains of a tattoed arm and it sparked a murder investigation.
The bizarre incident occurred at Sydney's Coogee Aquarium and the limbs were soon identified as the remains of Jimmy Smith, as per The Sun.
The probe began in 1935 and although it was a long time ago, it remains to be one of most unique cases ever.

It all started at the aquarium when the owner, Bert Hobson, in attempt to gain more customers, captured the shark to show off to the audience.
Crowds began to gather after the one ton, 13ft creature was grabbed off shore.
However, at roughly 4:30pm ANZAC Day holiday the massive shark vommed up a rat and then shortly after a bird.
Even more oddly, an arm flew out of its mouth and the crowd, understandably, were flabbergasted.

Remember, there was no internet or TVs in those days, so those people probably got the shock of their life.
Witness Narcisse Leo Young told The Sydney Herald: "I was three or four metres from the shark and clearly saw come out of its mouth a copious brown froth which smelled really foul."
The arm - tattooed with a picture of two boxers sparring with rope attached to the wrist - belonged to Smith
Police soon concluded that the arm hadn't been bitten off, rather it had been sliced off.

It was then discovered that Smith was an associate of a local drug gang, lead by Reginald Holmes.
They both teamed up with Patrick Brady, who was an ex-serviceman who had been convicted of forgery.
They began to forge cheques from Holmes’ wealthy clients, using both Holmes’ and Smith’s businesses to cash them.

Smith and Holmes fell out and Smith soon began blackmailing his former partner in crime.
Smith spent his final night alive drinking with Brady at a hotel and police were able to trace his final movements.
Three weeks after Smith’s arm was regurgitated, Brady was, incredibly, arrested for his murder.

However, without a body, a single arm was not sufficient proof that a murder had ever taken place.
Holmes, of course, was panicking with the whole situation and opted to throw the arm into the ocean.
Amazingly, nine days later, the arm was found and the investigation was underway.
Before things got started though, Holmes was found dead in his car, three bullets in his chest.
Up until his death in 1965, Patrick Brady denied he had anything to do with either.
Jimmy Smith’s body has never been found.
