Tech Giants DocuSign, Slack And Intercom To Take Part In Free Virtual Career Fair This Week

As many of us know, making the transition from your college days to the big, bad corporate world of modern working life can be more than a little daunting.

Some might argue that grads have it easier these days on account of Ireland becoming such a hub for the technology industry, what with behemoths like Google, Facebook, LinkedIn and more making a home here over the last decade.

And, of course, that is true, but before even thinking about which company they might like to work for, graduates still need to figure out how exactly they break into the industry to begin with.

Well, if you're a college student or recent graduate with lofty ambitions of carving a career for yourself in the world of tech then we may have just the event for you.

Irish start-up Gradguide was born from the founder, Mark Hughes, facing the exact same predicament after finishing his degree. After a six-month long stint behind a bar, he eventually landed a big boy job in tech with a little help from a mentor who was a few years ahead of him on the ladder.

This experience ultimately proved to be the spark that eventually became Gradguide, a company which aims to bridge the gap between college grads & technology companies through career guidance, industry mentorship, and its graduate recruitment platform.

Sounds handy, right? Well, even better, later this week Gradguide is hosting its first ever virtual career fair, boasting an impressive line-up of tech companies from across the UK and Ireland.

By simply signing up via the official website, grads can get direct access to representatives and hiring managers from some of the world's most exciting potential employers including Slack, Intercom, Qualtrics and DocuSign. Best of all? It's entirely free.

There will also be a number of a number of speakers throughout the day offering their advice to the next generation of graduates looking to break into the technology sector such as former CEO of Chargify Paul Lynch, Global Operations Manager EMEA for Qualtrics Jen O'Neill, and CMO of Immedis Tara O'Sullivan.

As if all of that wasn't convincing enough, they've only gone and bagged the one and only Marty Whelan to give a charming and inspiring opening address to the grads in attendance!

"This is a first and major event, and you're part of it. We're expecting about five thousand current and recent graduates to attend... which is quite a lot of people and there's lots in store," Whelan can be heard explaining to attendees in the welcoming video. "There are ten accomplished speakers who are giving a range of advice to help you land your dream job."

"If there's any room for me, give me a shout!" the TV and radio legend quipped.

"As well as that there's 25 of the top technology companies from across the UK and Ireland to meet so if you go to their booths throughout the day, you can stop and learn more."

The Gradguide Career Fair takes place tomorrow. You can sign up to attend entirely for free here.
