To the uninitiated, Twitter can be a bit of mine field. It's where memes and news stories are often born and, in many ways, it's a language in and of itself. And then, of course, you've got the specific subculture that is Irish Twitter which is a whole other ball game.

We here at LADBible understand that it can be overwhelming trying to stay on top of a platform that feels like if you blink, you'll miss something crucial. That's why we've put together this nifty guide to the best of what's occurred on Irish Twitter this week - the funniest memes, the hottest takes and the moments that just made us say WT actual F.

So grab a cuppa, sit back and catch up on all the best tweets you might have missed this week, safe in the knowledge you can regurgitate them all to your friends as though they're your original thoughts in the coming week.

LOL - This week's funniest tweets

Is there anything more cringe inducing than someone saying 'on fleek' in 2021?

We commend this man for staying true to himself.

'Simply decrepit vibes' is truly the only three words that could aptly describe this dark age.

We highly recommend a deep dive into this thread of people sharing their experiences of on-street verbal abuse for daring to don 'outlandish' fashion accessories in Irish towns.

The innovation of our nation's people when it comes to food best consumed violently hungover never ceases to amaze us.

TBH - The tweets that made us go 'Hmm...'

We've written about the growing outrage over the continued restrictions in hospitals which have seen pregnant women endure their labour and in fact the entirety of their hospital stay completely alone, without even the support of their partner, whilst capacities at sporting events continue to increase.

This week there finally seemed to be some progress made towards correcting this issue, however some are arguing the timing feels a little suspect as a certain prominent TD coincidentally announced their wife was expecting a child...

The world has been rocked this week by the devastating events in Afghanistan. The Twittersphere was particularly shook by footage and photos of Afghan refugees clambering onto a departing American plane, desperate for a way out of their country - a stark reminder of important it is that Ireland, and all Western countries, do everything they can to increase capacity for asylum seekers coming from the country.

It's often hard to know when faced with the reality of such trauma occurring so far from home but we believe it's important we continue to look it in the face and educate ourselves on the reality of what Afghan people are experiencing at the moment.

Irish Paralympian Patrick Flanagan took to Twitter this week to share his experience of his wheelchair being damaged beyond repair whilst in transit on a flight to London. Flanagan was given a replacement chair which he notes was not the right size for him which made navigating in the chair significantly more difficult.

The Paralympian's account is eye opening to the sort of difficulties faced every day by wheelchair users that businesses and able-bodied people are just not sufficiently cognisant.

WTF - An ode to the tweet we just didn't see coming

We will be thinking about this spectacular blunder from Tommy Bowe on live TV until the day we die, and we have a feeling he will too. We have so many questions but first and foremost - was this man not briefed as to what this segment was about before going on air? Was the script appearing on his autocue literally the first time he learned of it?

You can't help but feel sorry for Bowe but it makes for undeniably priceless Twitter content.
