If you're named Jack, James, Grace or Fiadh, it might be time to start thinking of a name change because, we hate to break it to you, people with your name are becoming ten a penny.

That's right, the most popular baby names for the year 2020 are in and the results are somewhat predictable if you've kept an eye on previous years.

When it comes to boys' names, Jack has come out on top, just as it has done every year since 2007 (excluding a quick break in 2016 when it was overtaken by James).

Noah, Daniel and Conor round off the Top 5, with Charlie, Fionn and Liam also taking spots in the Top 10 which you can view in full below:

Grace once again triumphed as the most popular name for baby girls. The name secured the top spot after coming in second place for the last two years, just behind Emily which had come in at number one for the last consecutive 10 years.

Emily has fallen to third place this year, with Fiadh taking the number two spot. Sophie and Ava round off the Top 5, with Hannah, Ella, and Lucy also making appearance in the Top 10, as seen below:

When it comes to surnames, Murphy was the most popular with a total of 602 Murphy babies born (accounting for 1.1% of all babies born). Kelly came in second at 523 (0.9%) and O'Brien in third at 467 (0.8%). The data was compiled by the Central Statistics Office.
