One of the writers behind the Borat sequel has responded to Rudy Giuliani after he claimed he was just 'tucking his shirt in' during an allegedly compromising scene in the new movie.

Jena Friedman took to Twitter following the former Mayor of New York's denial that he was doing anything untoward during a fake interview with a what he thought was a real reporter.

Giuliani, who is seen lying on a bed in a hotel room in the awkward scene, says he did nothing inappropriate and blasted the film as being a 'complete fabrication', stating he called the police as soon as he realised it was a set-up.

However, Friedman hit back at the former politician and now personal lawyer of US President Donald Trump, saying Giuliani agreed to the footage being included in the movie.

Sharing Giuliani's criticism and citing a fake advert filmmakers had mocked up separately for the film, the comic tweeted: "It's important to note that anyone who appears in any commercial comedy project has signed a performance release in advance. If we could just release footage of anyone without their consent, you all would have gotten to see this amazing fake ad @anuvalia and I pulled off.

"It's also important to note that there are SO MANY more credible allegations against Trump than Rudy. If any of Rudy's behavior shocks you, just imagine what Trump has done or would do if in a similar situation."

Giuliani was reportedly in a scene with 24-year-old actor named Maria Bakalova, who plays a 15-year-old girl in the movie.

She pretends to be a conservative TV journalist who requested an interview with Giuliani. After their chat, Giuliani can reportedly be seen giving her compliments and following her into another room.

Bakalova's character then takes off their microphones and Giuliani is seen lying down on a bed and putting his hands down his pants.

The scene gets disrupted by Borat, who bursts into the room dressed in pink underwear and tells Giuliani that 'she's 15, she's too old for you'.

Giuliani quickly spoke out against the scene and wrote on Twitter: "The Borat video is a complete fabrication. I was tucking in my shirt after taking off the recording equipment. At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate.

"If Sacha Baron Cohen implies otherwise he is a stone-cold liar."

Giuliani actually addressed this incident months ago during an interview with the New York Post and said he called the police on the unknown man at the time.

He said: "I only later realised it must have been Sacha Baron Cohen. I thought about all the people he previously fooled and I felt good about myself because he didn't get me."

Despite his denials, however, some have claimed it's even worse when you see it in the movie.

Actor Josh Gad wrote on Twitter: "Well, looks like the cat's out of the pants. Having seen #Borat2. I can now safely tell you #RudyGiuliani is over in a very big way. It's worse than you think and more uncomfortable than anything I've seen in a recent film, documentary or otherwise."

Praising the film, director Judd Apatow said: "I saw it. I wish I could unsee it. But Borat 2 is hilarious."

While singer Demi Lovato hit out at Giuliani for his behaviour, writing: "So you normally drink with reporters, follow them to the bedroom and then lie on the bed and let her take off your mic for you? I guess I've been doin my interviews all wrong... "

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm will be available to watch on Amazon Video from 23 October.
