Marvel Fans Want Charlie Hunnam To Replace Hugh Jackman As Wolverine

The British actor has long been rumoured to be a possibility for the role.

It's now four years since Hugh Jackman's last appearance as Marvel favourite Wolverine, and there have been plenty of guesses as to who could replace him - Tom Hardy and Taron Egerton have both been mentioned as possibilities at various points.

However, it seems fans have one person in mind: Charlie Hunnam.

On Twitter, people certainly haven't been shy about expressing their preference for the former Sons of Anarchy star to be cast as the near-invincible X-Man.

Earlier this week, fan page Marvelous Realm posed the question: "Who's your favourite non-MCU actor that you would love to see a join Marvel Studios project? What character would you choose for them bring to life?"

One fan swiftly responded: "Charlie Hunnam as Wolverine," while another added: "Charlie Hunnam could make a good Human Torch or perhaps the next Wolverine!"

But it wasn't all limited to this thread. Elsewhere, people have posted comments such as: "The way Hugh personified this role, it is age to imagine any other actor playing Wolverine, but Charlie Hunnam seems like a good fit or maybe the guy who played Ragnar in Vikings."

Another person wrote: "Hear me out: Charlie Hunnam as Wolverine."

Other fans are talking in terms of this being a necessity for the comics giant, with one fan posting: "One actor I think Marvel needs to hire is Charlie Hunnam. Really see him doing Wolverine justice after Hugh Jackman."

One guy simply posed the question: "Charlie Hunnam as the Wolverine, who says no?"

Hugh Jackman has finished his stint as the mutant hero.

Shortlist also recently ran a poll which saw Hunnam coming second only to the aforementioned Tom Hardy. Could either of them end up in the role? I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

Hunnam has been mentioned as a favourite by the rumour mill in the past - in 2019, a source close to the MCU reportedly revealed that the 40-year-old was leading the way.

Earlier this year, however, Marvel supremo Kevin Feige debunked rumours that the character has already been cast. When Collider asked if anyone had been chosen, the MCU CEO simply replied: "No."

Oh well.

One person who is definitely done with Wolverine is Jackman - last year the 52-year-old confirmed he would not be returning for any future films.

Speaking to the Daily Beast, he said: "I knew it was the right time for me to leave the party - not just for me, but for the character.

"Somebody else will pick it up and run with it. It's too good of a character not to. It's kind of like, you're on your way home and your friend rings you and goes, 'Oh, dude, a new DJ just came on and the music is awesome, are you going to come back?' And you say, 'Sounds good but... no'.

"They're fine with someone else."

BUT WHO?
