The father of one of the young boys Chadwick Boseman had been in contact with while filming Black Panther has shared the video the actor sent his son.

Boseman broke down in an interview back in 2018 when he revealed that he had been speaking to two young boys who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

In the heartbreaking interview, the 43-year-old said they were an inspiration to him to make the best film possible. Sadly, however, they both passed away before they were able to see it.

But now one of the fathers of those two lads, Brian Hammond, has shared an emotional post, paying tribute to the actor and thanking him for giving his boy, Taylor, hope.

He wrote: "Chadwick was talking about my son when he broke down and cried. He was heartbroken that Taylor didn't get to see the finished product. When all of the world's eyes were on him, his heart & mind was on our angel. #RIPKing #FightOn #ForTaylor."

Mr Hammond then shared a previously unseen video the actor sent his son, as well as a message Taylor videoed for Boseman.

Posting the clip, he wrote: "This is the first message Chadwick Boseman sent to my son in 2017. He had already been diagnosed with colon cancer, unknown to anyone. Amazing."

During a press conference ahead of Black Panther's release, Boseman said he had been in contact with the two children and that they had exchanged messages.

He said that the kids were incredibly excited to see the film and that their parents had told him how they were 'holding on' until it was released.

In the clip, Boseman can be heard saying: "Their parents said, 'They're trying to hold on 'til this movie comes.'

"To a certain degree, you hear them say that and you're like, 'Wow. I gotta get up and go to the gym. I gotta get up and go to work. I gotta learn these lines. I gotta work on this accent'.

"To a certain degree, it's a humbling experience, because you're like, 'This can't mean that much to them.' You know?

"But seeing how the world has taken this on, seeing how the movement and how it's taken on a life of its own, I realise that they anticipated something great."

Boseman then broke down as he told the press that the boys had, tragically, passed away before getting the chance to see their dream become a reality.

Being consoled by his fellow cast members, he said: "And when I found out that they... Yeah, it means a lot."

In a statement posted to his Twitter yesterday (29 August), Boseman's family revealed the actor had died of colon cancer. He had originally been diagnosed in 2016 and had been battling with the illness for the last four years as it progressed to stage IV.
