David Blaine has announced he's going to take part in a brand-new stunt '10 years in the making' which will see him float from New Jersey to New York using only balloons filled with helium.

The 47-year-old, who has previously hung over the River Thames in a Plexiglas case, will be broadcasting his latest stunt live on YouTube at the end of the month.

Titled Ascension, the stunt will see Blaine float using a bunch of helium balloons - a bit like the house from UP.

Posting on Twitter, Blaine wrote: "This stunt has been 10 years in the making. Let's turn worry into wonder and take magic to new heights."

YouTube said: "Watch in disbelief as David Blaine magically ascends above Earth, in his biggest live performance yet."

Blaine hopes his latest project 'will bring wonder, hope and untethered possibility as he launches from New Jersey and journeys across his native New York City skyline to tackle his most ambitious and revolutionary feat yet'.

Blaine also had a chat with Sylvester Stallone about his latest stunt after it was announced.

In a clip shared on Sly's Instagram page, he asks the magician: "I must admit I'm getting jaded.

"It's hard for me to get impressed, but when this guy shows up - time stands still."

He then asks: "It's the most, what would you say, the most ambitious thing probably ever accomplished by a human being?"

But Blaine is cool as a cucumber, replying: "No I'm excited. This is all I've been thinking about since I was a little kid."

Blaine is no stranger to headline-grabbing stunts such as this - he spent 44 days suspended in 3ftx7ftx3ft box near Tower Bridge in London.

When he emerged weeks later, he 60lbs lighter and showing symptoms of starvation.

He's also buried himself alive - he spent a week under a massive tank of water, surviving without food and just having a few tablespoons of water.

Blaine tested his endurance further when he spent 73 hours stood on a 22-foot high pillar in New York, while one million volts where directed at him throughout. Rather you than me, pal.

Ascension will be broadcast on YouTube on 31 August.
