Dermot O'Leary wasn't sure what to do when someone congratulated him for coming out today (26 November). Watch the bizarre encounter below:

Barry Humphries was a guest on today's edition of This Morning, sitting down for a chat with Dermot and co-host Alison Hammond.

However, the comedian decided to take the opportunity to praise the radio presenter for his 'courage' in coming out as gay a while back.

If you remember correctly, though, you will know that that was actually Phillip Schofield.

"I've got a good memory, Dermot, a very good memory, and incidentally I want to congratulate you, seriously, on your courage," said Barry.

"Last year, when he came out and told us about his sexuality... no, no, because I think a lot of people respected you for that."

Unable to control herself, Alison burst into laughter while Dermot looked away sheepishly, telling Barry that he had a 'very good memory'.

Dermot then said: "Thank you, I will pass that on to the gentleman who is here from Monday to Thursday... Don't you worry!"

"No, your bravery was a marvel - and by the way, we're all in showbusiness," replied the guest.

Seeing that he appeared a little confused, Dermot then told Barry not to worry about it.

Now, with Barry being a comedy icon, best known for his character Dame Edna Everage, it's almost certain that he knew exactly what he was doing. But it's hilarious either way.

Praising him for his delivery, one viewer said: "You know I just love Barry Humphries aka Dame Edna Everage very old school comedy but the delivery is always on point. Very funny."

Echoing the comments, another chimed in: "Had me in absolute tears crying laughing couldn't stop then Alison's laugh was making me worse I was #Crying best medicine I've needed for a while bloody loved it."

A third said: "Dermot you were very gracious in your acceptance of congratulations for coming out last year, and passing them on to Phillip from Barry lol."

While another added: "Really don't know if that was staged or not but it was absolutely hilarious."

Earlier this week, the real Phillip was in hysterics after the man with the 'world's largest penis' showed it to him on live TV.

The This Morning presenter was stunned when Jonah Falcon whipped out a picture of his humungous member for Phil and Josie Gibson to have a butcher at.

As you'd expect, when presented with photographic evidence of the actor's 13.5inch penis, the pair couldn't contain themselves.
