Warning: Spoilers Ahead

Season six of Line of Duty is well underway and fans are frantically trying to work out what the hell is going on.

In the last episode of the cop drama, viewers were left on a cliffhanger - as per- with AC-12 having uncovered a mysterious link between DCI Joanne Davidson and another individual known to fans.

DI Steve Arnott revealed the news to Superintendent Ted Hastings (like the battle), handing him a report that included the details of the person who is 'identified over the page'.

After seeing the name of the mystery person, Ted gives one of his best ever 'Mother of Gods'. But fans were left guessing.

And guessing they have been, with people sharing their theories on social media.

A lot of viewers had previously speculated that Davidson is the sister of John Corbett, an undercover police officer who was killed in season five by the OCG.

"My take. Jo Davidson is sister to John Corbett (same mom). Meaning Hastings could turn out to be their dad due to link to the mom back in Ireland," said one.

And many believe that Ted's reaction was due to him potentially being the father.

Also calling back to the photograph in her flat we saw in episode one, which many have taken to be Davidson's mum, some think that it could be Deputy Chief Constable Andrea Wise.

Posting a snap from the series, one armchair detective said: "Ok so my Line of Duty theory: Jo Davidson's Mum... is Andrea Wise. LOOK at the photo Jo lobbed a glass of vino at in Ep.1 - WHO ELSE IS WITH ME??"

Another idea being mooted is that she's, in fact, the daughter of Tommy Hunter, the paedophile gangster who was arrested at the end of the first season and later killed.

Sharing the theory on Twitter, one fan said: "Me congratulating myself on my theory that Jo Davidson is related to... Tommy Hunter."

Agreeing, another put: "So Jo Davidson has to be related to Tommy Hunter right? Both Scottish?"

However, as some have pointed out, this might be a bit of a reach, despite the Scottish connection, due to the fact that Hunter would have been around 13 years old at the time of her birth.

But it doesn't mean that he's not her brother or cousin maybe. Can't rule anything out.

Another idea that's been posited is that Davidson is related to DI Matthew 'Dot' Cottan, who used to work in AC-12 before it transpired that he was the 'Caddy', working for Hunter.

He died at the end of the third series.

"Pretty sure the picture was of Jo Davidson herself. My money is on her being the sister of cousin of Dot Cottan," claimed one fan.

This would also fit with Ted's reaction because it would mean that a high-ranking police officer has very close connections to organised crime. Though we already know that, don't we?

Others believe that she could be related to disgraced former Deputy Chief Constable Mike Dryden, who is currently serving a suspended sentence for perverting the course of justice.

Again, if true, this wouldn't be a great look for Davidson, but not sure it would quite as dramatic as if it turned out to be one of the other characters.
