Ethan Suplee, one of the stars of Mallrats and My Name is Earl, has revealed the next step in his remarkable transformation that has seen him drop from a top weight of more than 500 pounds to having just nine percent body fat.

He's made a pretty incredible effort to get from where he is to now, and he shared a picture of himself on Instagram announcing that he'd reached his 2020 goal, which was to have visible abs.

As you can see, he got there. At least someone managed to stick to their resolutions last year.

Sharing a picture of himself on Instagram, the 44-year-old wrote: "Last year I set a goal of having visible abs, here's where I got to,

"This year I would like visible obliques. It's going to be a wonderfully tough year."

Well, on the evidence of last year's efforts, it'd be hard to bet against him achieving that goal.

Suplee then went on to detail how he managed to get the weight off, not through sticking to his diets, but through adapting his goals.

He said: "I have successfully lost weight with every diet I stuck to in the past 20 years, but my goal was never more than that, lose weight."

Then, he got into bicycle riding, and 'refined and pinpointed' his health goals, which explains why he wanted to attain some visible abdominals.

Fair play to him, whatever he is doing has obviously worked. He looks like a different person altogether to the one that we know from our screens.

However, Suplee did also reveal that he has put weight back on in the past in order to get roles in TV shows and movies.

That said, he continued: "I'm at my absolute pinnacle. I spent 35, 40 years without taking my shirt off in public. The shadows haven't been enhanced. There's loose skin. There are scars. This is who I am."

Suplee went on to explain how he still enjoys things such as meals out with his family and eating well at home, but now he is 'mindful' of the things he puts into his body, and considers that time and hard work that he'll have to put in to get the weight off and - ultimately - achieve his goals.

If only we could all have a bit of his drive and dedication to get off some of those post-Christmas pounds, right?
