Piers Morgan is set to star on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? on Boxing Day.

The journalist has filmed a celebrity special for the festive period, with the money going to charity.

Piers revealed that he was taking part in one of two specials over Christmas, and that the country 'won't be disappointed'.

Taking to Instagram, the 55-year-old referenced his 2004 bust-up at an awards ceremony with the show's host Jeremy Clarkson.

He said: "BREAKING: Yes, it happened. I've appeared on Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, hosted by a man who once repeatedly punched me in the head.

"It airs on ITV on Boxing Day (appropriately) and it went... well.... let's just say I don't think the public will be disappointed."

The pair fell out after Morgan published a story while the editor of a tabloid newspaper about the former Top Gear presenter's personal life.

According to reports, they eventually patched thing up.

The Good Morning Britain presenter is one of a number of celebs who will be facing some tough questions from Clarkson.

Diversity star Jordan Banjo, Great British Bake Off judge Pru Leith, Coronation Street's Kym Marsh, and comedian Ronni Ancona will also be trying to raise money for their chosen causes.

Speaking ahead of the shows airing, Clarkson said: "We have a great line-up of celebrities for these two special episodes.

"Even I'd heard of most of them. There was Pru Leith who was warm and wonderful and great fun, and Piers Morgan who was... also on the show.

"Without giving too much away, there was some skilful gameplay, some wild stabs in the dark and some moments of toe-curling embarrassment. So why not grab a mince pie, put your feet up and tune in!"

Piers will face off against Jeremy Clarkson in a celebrity special of the quiz show.

Whether anyone will win the £1m prize is yet to be seen, but given that the show saw its first top-prize winner in 14 years earlier this year, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Donald, from Telford, stormed to victory back in September, breezing through the rounds in just 20 minutes.

And as if Donald wasn't likeable enough, he said he planned on giving most of his winnings away - just as his brother Davyth did when he won £500,000 on the show last year.

Speaking to The Mirror, he said: "I am a bit of a democratic socialist so to speak, and just as my brother did with his win, this money will be splurged across the family.

"I intend to give at least 70 percent of the money away and leave just enough for me so I can have a comfortable retirement say. To be honest, if I had a million pounds, I wouldn't have a clue how to spend it. I could buy an Aston Martin, for instance - I could get into the thing, but I could never get out of it. I'm fat!

"The only other thing you could possibly spend it on would be moving house but I am very happy with our house. It is in a lovely area and we have been there 27 years and have lovely neighbours, so why move? So I would rather keep the money and give it away to people I love. A motor-home is the only purchase on the horizon."

The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? Celebrity Specials are set to air on Boxing Day at 9.30pm and 27 December at 9.15pm on ITV.
