Ryan Reynolds isn't one to do movie promotion by half, and his latest offering for Free Guy is one of his weirdest yet. Have a look for yourself below:

Have you ever wondered what Deadpool would look like if he were to merge with Thor? Well, wonder no more.

In the long-awaited movie, Reynolds plays a non-player character (NPC) in an open-world video game called Free City, who suddenly becomes self-aware.

And in a promo for the upcoming and much-delayed movie, we are introduced to a character called 'Dude', a blond-haired, muscle-bound hunk - played by Reynolds - who gets dropped into the game by its developer Taika Waititi.

Something tells me this could be another one of Reynolds' famous jibes at his Hollywood pals.

I wonder what Chris Hemsworth and co-chairman of Wrexham football club Rob McElhenney think of it.

In the clip, we are given a spoof BTS excerpt, with the super-buff Dude giving us an insight into his fitness regime and joking that he can no longer fit into the Deadpool costume.

Unsurprisingly, the really, really weird teaser has creeped the hell out of fans.

Commenting on the post, one user said: "This might be more disturbing than his Green Lantern."

Echoing the shock, another chimed in: "Buff Deadpool is cursed."

"You're more weird then ever. I will like this movie. However... Give me DP3!" said a third.

While another added: "Not really liking Dude Ryan Reynolds."

Directed by Shawn Levy, one of the producers of Stranger Things, Free Guy has definite nods to the likes of The Truman Show. Surrounded by explosions, car accidents and bank heists, Guy slowly realises that these things are not part of everyday life.

When one day, he slips out of his normal upbeat demeanour he takes on a bank robber, and when he puts on his glasses, he realises that he is in fact in the frame.

Speaking ahead of its release, Reynolds said it is his favourite one he's ever made.

He introduced the new trailer at Comic Con Experience (CCXP) in Brazil back in 2019, where he revealed just how much he enjoyed making it.

Speaking to the audience, he said: "We really wanted to bring to the world a modern day Back to the Future for modern generations.

"Free Guy is my favorite movie I've ever made, and that means a lot to me because I made Deadpool."

Free Guy is set to be released on 13 August.
