Sex Education has been renewed for a fourth season, it has been confirmed.

Netflix has announced the hit 'dramedy' will be back for yet another instalment during the TUDUM: A Netflix Global Fan Event this evening (25 September).

The exciting news comes after the third season, which landed recently on the platform, was met with rave reviews from critics and fans alike.

Special praise was reserved, however, for Connor Swindells, who plays Adam Groff, for the 'mind-blowing' performance he gave alongside on-screen dad Alistair Petrie, otherwise known as Mr Groff.

As the seasons have progressed, we have seen Adam and Mr Groff's strained relationship become ever more complicated and nuanced as the two slowly begin to address their own inner turmoil - with the pair shown to have much more in common than we originally thought.

Connor Swindells and Alistair Petrie have been praised for their father-son chemistry on the show.

While heartbreaking to watch, their troubled father-son dynamic has struck a real chord with viewers.

So convincing were the pair that many found it hard to believe they weren't related in real life.

Speaking to LADbible about the potential for another season, Swindells said he would be up for it and hopes that Adam manages to patch things up with his dad.

He said: "I think reconciliation between his father and himself to some degree, or to capitalise on that relationship - because that's the main reason why I did it in the first place.

"I'm so obsessed with stories about fathers and sons, that was the main draw for me.

"I think it's such an important story to tell because the effects of it can be dire. You know, they really can.

"So I think it's important to tell those stories and to show that fathers are teachers constantly. I think a lot of fathers don't realise that.

"I think young men, especially, are sponges for male role models, and they'll look for them. And if they're not there by blood, then they'll find them elsewhere. It can be really beautiful, and it can be amazing, but other times it can be catastrophic.

"So it's important to show the responsibility that fathers have to teach their sons the right lessons, and who to be and how to carry yourself, which is the main reason why I wanted to do it in the first place."

In case you've been living under a rock for the past three years, Sex Education follows the very complicated lives of the teachers, pupils and their parents of Moordale High.

And as the title would suggest, there are some fairly racy themes that run throughout the series.

So much so that one of the show's stars, Gillian Anderson, who plays Dr Jean Milburn, revealed recently that she banned her kids from watching it.

She said: "When it first came out, I told them they weren't allowed to.

"I have no control over what they do at their friends' houses. I have no control over what their friends show them!"All three seasons of Sex Education are available to watch on Netflix now."
